The People's String Foundation is a South West based band; they mix passionate theatrics with an urban gypsy sound. The band is led by composers and musicians Ben Sutcliffe and Zaid Al-Rikabi (musical directors for Rogue, Kneehigh and 'Owdyado Theatres). They mix artisan flavours with urban/world beats; this is a band that can work as a duo right up to a 24-piece orchestra.
The People's String Foundation is fast being recognised as the musical heavyweight of the South West. They tour the festival and theatre circuits as a two to seven piece band; they encompass a grass roots level philosophy, working with the community and schools to promote local music and arts.
The band's Acoustic Duo Show includes their own music, and some of the best songs and compositions that they've created from their time working as musical directors. Their compositions are melodic, wistful, and dynamic as well as upbeat and fast, designed to get people's toes tapping. The People's String Foundation is on a mission - to make something big and beautiful with plenty of heart, well honed musicianship, and a grafter's spirit.
